Prosper Advantage: Workplace Success
Looking for greater confidence as you prepare for a new job? This 4-part workshop focuses on developing professionalism and workplace communication, as well as understanding expectations and workplace culture. Through interactive lessons participants will gain the confidence and skills needed to navigate the workplace and achieve long-term career success.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Wednesday, May 7th, 1:00-3:00 pm - First Impressions & Workplace Readiness
Participants will learn how to create a strong first impression through Greetings Others, Dressing for Success, and Being On Time. They will also explore the importance of Being Prepared and Asking Questions to demonstrate initiative and engagement in the workplace. These foundational skills set the tone for professionalism and readiness in any job setting.
Wednesday, May 14th, 1:00-3:00 pm - Workplace Behavior & Communication
This session focuses on essential interpersonal and communication skills, including Following Directions, Being Responsive, and Respecting Boundaries. Participants will also discuss Handling Stress and Making Corrections, learning how to receive feedback and adapt to workplace expectations while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Wednesday, May 21st, 1:00-3:00 pm - Work Ethic & Job Performance
Participants will develop strategies for staying engaged and productive at work through Staying Focused, Being Persistent, and Integrity in the Workplace. They will also learn how to Excel at Your Job by going beyond basic expectations and contributing positively to their team and organization.
Wednesday, May 28th, 1:00-3:00 pm - Customer Service & Workplace Culture
The final session covers customer and workplace interactions, emphasizing Helping Customers, Following Rules, and understanding company expectations. Through real-world examples, participants will gain insight into navigating workplace culture, ensuring long-term success in their careers.

Making Memories: Zoo Night
AAP’s Making Memories: Zoo Night is an inclusive evening for all! Join us for a special night for individuals on the spectrum and their families. All are welcome to explore and connect with the animal kingdom at this fun event! We'll see you at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium!
Enjoy Owen Sea Lion Shores, Hubbard Gorilla Valley, Glacier Bay Landing, Asian Highlands, Children's Adventure Trails, Sue's Carousel, and the Alaskan Adventure Splash Pad!
The Children's Adventure Trails and Alaskan Adventure Splash Pad will be open from 6:30-8:00 and will be closing earlier than the other exhibits.

About This Workshop
Starting your first job can feel overwhelming—but Prosperity Prep Academy is here to help! This fun and interactive four-day workshop is designed to help young adults with autism explore career paths, develop job search skills, and practice real-world interviews in a supportive and engaging environment.
Led by Prosper Workforce Services job coaches and Prosper Academy instructors, this series is filled with hands-on activities and tailored games that will prepare you for success in the workplace.
What to Expect:
⭐ Day 1: Exploring Careers & Finding Your Path
Learn about different job industries and career options.
Participate in career exploration games and create a vision board for your future.
⭐ Day 2: Hard Skills for Job Searching
Learn how to search for jobs, fill out applications, and build a resume (no experience needed—we’ll provide templates!).
Take part in a Job Hunt Scavenger Hunt to explore real job postings.
⭐ Day 3: Work Experience & Interview Prep
Learn about volunteer opportunities and job support programs that can help you after graduation.
Get ready for a mock interview challenge by reviewing real job postings and practicing common interview questions.
⭐ Day 4: The “You’re Hired!” Challenge (Final Activity)
Take part in a full hiring simulation where you will:
✅ Apply for a job
✅ Participate in a mock interview
✅ Play the role of an employer and help decide who gets “hired”!Celebrate your progress with the Prosper Pledge—a personalized career goal to take with you.

Lifequest: Be Ready, Stay Safe
Be Ready, Stay Safe is a self-defense and safety awareness class designed for adults who want to feel more confident and in control in everyday situations. Participants will learn how to recognize potential threats, make safe choices, and respond calmly under pressure. With a focus on prevention, preparedness, and practical skills, this class helps build confidence through readiness.

Join us for an evening of wild adventures at Henry Doorly Zoo! Whether you are up for a safari in the Lied Jungle or a trek thru the Desert Dome, you are sure to have a zoo-pendous time! Sign up now for a relaxing, sensory friendly night at the zoo! 🐯🐧🦁
Our event ends at 9:30, however, if you are enjoying your adventure, you are welcome to stay until the zoo closes at 10:30.

This 4-session course is designed to equip adults with the foundational skills needed to successfully manage daily life with greater independence. By focusing on health, hygiene, time management, and home safety, participants build the confidence and routines necessary for personal well-being and self-reliance.
Tuesdays and Thursday, Starting July 15th
Weekly Breakdown:
Session 1: Personal Health & Hygiene Essentials
Learn how to recognize and respond to minor illnesses, how to safely use over-the-counter and prescription medications, and manage daily hygiene routines. Participants will also explore how to select a doctor, prepare for appointments, and follow up effectively.
Session 2: Healthy Habits & Wellness Planning
This session introduces steps to maintain good physical and mental health, including the importance of regular exercise, managing stress, and developing a personalized wellness routine. We'll also cover how to find and work with a mental health provider.
Session 3: Organizing Life: Tools for Daily Success
Participants will explore strategies for managing time, setting and tracking goals, and staying on top of commitments. Digital tools like calendars, alarms, and planning apps will be introduced, along with hands-on practice creating personalized organization systems.
Session 4: Home Safety & Emergency Preparedness
Learn how to stay safe at home through topics such as fire prevention, kitchen safety, locking up at night, and coordinating with roommates. Participants will also practice calling 911, build emergency contact lists, and create personal home safety plans.

Let It Shine: Summer Art Camp
Autism Action Partnership is excited to announce Let it Shine: Summer Art Camp!
Campers will combine performance and visual arts with imagination to have an art experience that encourages them to be the best they can be!
Monday, July 21st - Friday, July 25th
Campers | targeted to 6-12 y.o.

Campers | targeted 13-17 y.o.
1:00pm - 3:30pm
For both camps, one hour will be dedicated to exploring performance arts such as dance, movement, and acting. The other hour, campers will explore visual arts such as painting and drawing. There will be an artist from Why Arts for each session and AAP staff.
There will be a 30 minute break for campers to enjoy a home-provided snack and drink.

Weekly Breakdown:
Session 1: Personal Health & Hygiene Essentials
Learn how to recognize and respond to minor illnesses, how to safely use over-the-counter and prescription medications, and manage daily hygiene routines. Participants will also explore how to select a doctor, prepare for appointments, and follow up effectively.
Session 2: Healthy Habits & Wellness Planning
This session introduces steps to maintain good physical and mental health, including the importance of regular exercise, managing stress, and developing a personalized wellness routine. We'll also cover how to find and work with a mental health provider.
Session 3: Organizing Life: Tools for Daily Success
Participants will explore strategies for managing time, setting and tracking goals, and staying on top of commitments. Digital tools like calendars, alarms, and planning apps will be introduced, along with hands-on practice creating personalized organization systems.
Session 4: Home Safety & Emergency Preparedness
Learn how to stay safe at home through topics such as fire prevention, kitchen safety, locking up at night, and coordinating with roommates. Participants will also practice calling 911, build emergency contact lists, and create personal home safety plans.

Making Memories: Meet the Police
Join AAP as we meet our local law enforcement officers (both four-legged and two-legged), participate in a fun activity, and get a tour of the precinct! Thank you to the Omaha Police Department for making opportunities like this possible for individuals and families in the autism community.

AAP’s Making Memories: Zoo Night is an inclusive evening for all! Join us for a special night for individuals on the spectrum and their families. All are welcome to explore and connect with the animal kingdom at this fun event! We'll see you at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium!
Enjoy Desert Dome, Mahoney Kingdoms of the Night, Scott Aquarium, Wild Kingdom Pavilion, Giraffe Herd Room, and Elephant Family Quarters.
The Aquarium lights will be dimmed throughout the event to maintain the natural sleep cycle of the animals. This aspect of the event cannot be changed.

Our Turn with the Omaha Symphony
We’ll take turns exploring big, small, up, down, high, and low with our bodies and music, before choosing calm as the concert draws to a close.
This program, developed specifically to be inclusive of sensory needs, takes place in a relaxed environment with a variety of seating options and dance space.
Before the concert begins, take the time to explore the instruments with the Instrument Petting Zoo. Here you can touch and discover the different sounds you will hear during the performance!

Common Senses Festival is at it again with new and exciting events with a focus on arts, science and disability acceptance. This year, Common Senses Festival will team up with AAP for a unique event called Going Up: The Elevator Experience.

Looking to practice your acting chops? Join us on Sunday, November 17th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for an adults only performance workshop focusing on ad-libbing and peer awareness. The event kicks off with a special improv performance by the locally renowned "Dad Jokes" group at the Backline Comedy Club. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to learn how improv mirrors real-life social interactions, helping you build confidence in responding to social situations. Participation is completely voluntary—there’s no pressure to perform!

Relaxed Performance: The Old Man and the Moon
OCP will host a relaxed performance of THE OLD MAN AND THE OLD MOON on Friday, March 21st at 7:30pm. This relaxed performance will offer a sensory-friendly experience that is welcoming for those with sensory sensitivities. Accommodations include:
Additional house lighting to allow for safe movement during the performance
Access to a Sensory Guide the week leading up to the performance
Warning lights during the performance before moments in the play that are especially loud, bright, scary, or otherwise intense
Relaxed theatre etiquette which will allow patrons experiencing sensory sensitivities to enjoy the performance without fear of judgement
Designated quiet zones in the lobby areas
Sensory kits available for checkout
Price is $10 per ticket.
