Making Memories: The Nutcracker
AAP is thrilled to be working with American Midwest Ballet again this year to bring you this family holiday tradition...the Sensory-Friendly Nutcracker!
Visual splendor, a charming story, and brilliant classical dancing – it’s no wonder The Nutcracker is the world’s favorite holiday ballet! Always thoroughly entertaining, this dazzling spectacle highlights the versatility of AMB’s cast of professional artists, backed by a polished ensemble of student dancers from across the metro area. The Nutcracker features lavish sets and more than 250 beautiful costumes.

Join AAP and the Salvation Army for our annual partnership: Sensory-Friendly Bell Ringing!
What does sensory-friendly bell ringing entail? In lieu of bells, volunteers will shake glow sticks to make the experience sensory-friendlier! Bring your family and take part in a holiday tradition.

LifeQuest: Mixer
Looking to meet some new friends? Join us for a fun and engaging social mixer on Friday, December 13th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, where you'll have the chance to build connections and learn valuable conversation skills in a relaxed, supportive setting. With small-group activities designed to help you discover shared interests and meet new friends, the evening promises both learning and laughter. Enjoy appetizers, refreshments, and the chance to win door prizes. For those interested, there will be an opportunity to make connections afterward with people you’ve clicked with—completely optional and all about fun!

LifeQuest: Financial Survival Game
Have you ever wanted to be IN a boardgame? Join us on Monday, December 16th, at 6:00 PM for the Financial Survival Game, where you’ll tackle real-life scenarios that teach fundamental principles of budgeting. This is an engaging, hands-on game mirrors the classic Hasbro Game of Life where you'll make real-life decisions while trying to balance work and happiness and manage stress. It's a fun way to learn how to make smart money decisions in a low-pressure environment!

LifeQuest: Improv for Social Awareness
Looking to practice your acting chops? Join us on Sunday, November 17th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for an adults only performance workshop focusing on ad-libbing and peer awareness. The event kicks off with a special improv performance by the locally renowned "Dad Jokes" group at the Backline Comedy Club. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to learn how improv mirrors real-life social interactions, helping you build confidence in responding to social situations. Participation is completely voluntary—there’s no pressure to perform!

LifeQuest: Scavenger Hunt
Join us on Saturday, November 9th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for an interactive, city-wide scavenger hunt! You're in for a day of learning and exploration! In the morning, you'll gain practical skills for navigating the city’s metro buses and ride-sharing apps, with hands-on guidance to help you feel confident. After lunch, test what you've learned with a fun city scavenger hunt, supported by staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Bring a lunch or money to buy lunch at one of the exciting destinations along the way!
This event is for autistic adults ages 18+.

Our Turn with the Omaha Symphony
Join Maestro Serena Reuten and the Omaha Symphony on this interactive concert featuring music from Mozart's Magic Flute, Still's Mother and Child, and more!
We’ll take turns exploring big, small, up, down, high, and low with our bodies and music, before choosing calm as the concert draws to a close.
This program, developed specifically to be inclusive of sensory needs, takes place in a relaxed environment with a variety of seating options and dance space.
Before the concert begins, take the time to explore the instruments with the Instrument Petting Zoo. Here you can touch and discover the different sounds you will hear during the performance!

Making Memories: Zoo Night is an inclusive evening for all! Join us for a special night featuring sensory-friendly zones and animal encounters for individuals on the spectrum and their families.
