Guild Overview

Autism Action Partnership (AAP), a public not-for-profit foundation located in Omaha, works tirelessly to collaborate with established organizations to develop and fund programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. As we continue to work to provide programs and services for individuals with autism across the state of Nebraska, the development of a guild has become a necessity. Currently, Nebraska ranks 41st in the nation in the delivery of disability services. With the help and support of a volunteer guild, AAP will be better able to develop and fund programs and services necessary to drastically improve the quality of life of individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.

The AAP Guild will be made up of individuals from the local community who will join AAP in improving the quality of life of persons on the autism spectrum and their families through education, advocacy, and support, thereby enabling them to be an integral part of the community. The purpose of the AAP Guild is to maintain a volunteer group dedicated to the advancement and growth of AAP through coordination of and participation in autism awareness and fundraising events.

The AAP Guild will consist of a group of high energy, talented volunteers that will work with our Executive Director and staff. Guild members will be responsible for attending Guild meetings and will actively serve on Guild Committees, such as committees focusing on fundraising, autism awareness, and executive functioning of the Guild. AAP Guild members will assist in planning and hosting some or all of the following activities and events:

AAP’s Signature Annual Fundraiser – a very unique wine event held in the fall. Over the last four years, we have hosted exceptional wine tastings benefits for 350 guests. Our signature event is known as a first-class wine tasting experience, something our guests have previously never experienced in Omaha. Each year, we challenge ourselves to make the event unforgettable. The event is hosted by CL and Rachel Werner. The event also includes both Silent and Live Auctions, with excellent wine gifts, vacation trips, and other luxurious items – all surrounded by a vibrant evening. We create an experience that is different from other events in the city. AAP utilizes auction software that organizes our event planning and auction process which enhances our staffing productivity. We also have a proven documented methodology to ensure success with our events and this helps our volunteers better understand their committee work. AAP is looking for a group of high energy volunteers, Guild members, which would work with AAP Staff and Event Chairs to lead various committees in planning and executing every aspect of the event. And, we all work together knowing we are helping to serve an underserved population in our state.
AAP’s Annual Educational Summit – AAP hosts an annual educational conference. Guild members will be instrumental in working with the AAP staff to help organize and facilitate the event. The event is a 1-2 day conference held in Omaha and targets parents, medical professionals and service providers that work in the field of autism. The summit’s main goal is to provide education to parents of children with autism. They are eager to hear nationally recognized experts and the opportunity would not present itself in Omaha without AAP’s funding and support. This conference also highlights local autism service providers and their topics of expertise.

Other Activities and Events – AAP will be working on additional fundraisers and programs throughout the year. We are often asked to participate in autism awareness events, such as Resource Fairs and Autism Nights and events in the local community. In some scenarios, Guild volunteers would be able to augment the AAP staff.
