CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Social 2: Advocacy and Identity in Action is designed for autistic adults who are ready to build confidence, strengthen their voice, and take meaningful steps toward self-advocacy and civic engagement. Through guided instruction, hands-on activities, and peer collaboration, participants will deepen their understanding of personal identity, legal rights, and the power of advocacy in real-world settings.
Over four weekly sessions, participants will:
Define and demonstrate advocacy and self-advocacy skills in everyday situations
Identify their personal strengths, needs, and preferences to support decision-making
Create self-advocacy scripts for use in school, work, and social environments
Learn about civic rights and responsibilities, including how to register and vote
Understand laws that affect their lives and explore ways to make their voices heard
Practice speaking confidently with peers, employers, and elected officials
This course empowers learners to move from self-awareness to action—equipping them with the tools, language, and strategies to advocate for themselves and others. Whether preparing for a job, engaging in their community, or standing up for what matters most, participants will leave this course with real skills for real-world advocacy.
