CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Living 2: Community and Confidence is designed to build on the skills learned in Home and Health by helping neurodivergent adults navigate the broader world with greater safety, awareness, and independence. This course focuses on building confidence in community settings through practical strategies for managing social boundaries, public safety, digital privacy, and transportation.
Participants will:
Learn to recognize the difference between friends, acquaintances, and strangers, and use appropriate safety strategies in a variety of social situations.
Identify and respond to unsafe or inappropriate behavior in both public and online spaces, including harassment and scams.
Understand how to interact appropriately with public systems, including law enforcement, and how to advocate for themselves when needed.
Practice phone and internet safety, including protecting personal information, using social media safely, and avoiding fraud.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more prepared to move through the world independently, make safer choices in unfamiliar environments, and communicate clearly in social and community settings. Living 2: Community and Confidence supports participants in expanding their independence while reducing vulnerability—essential steps in living a full and connected life.
