The Nutcracker is a beloved holiday tradition around the world!
Autism Action Partnership and the American Midwest Ballet proudly present The Nutcracker this holiday season with a sensory-friendly performance for families in the autism community.
The performance is Sunday, November 21st from 2-3:30 PM at the Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center. American Midwest Ballet has worked closely with AAP to modify the performance in order to better serve those with sensory needs.
Please see below the following modifications being made to this specific performance:
Performance shortened with a run time (including intermission) of 1 hour, 20 minutes
Designated space to stand if sitting becomes too much
"Quiet Zone" off of the lobby for those who need it during the performance
Nutcracker themed rice cereal treats (GF) for guests provided and beverages available for purchase
Loud, surprise moments in the music and performance reduced
Light cues modified (especially during battle scene)
Social narratives and study guides will be available prior to the performance
Registration is now available at https://autismaction.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/autismaction/event.jsp?event=250&. The cost to submit your reservation is $5/individual or $10/family. As a courtesy, please ensure your schedule allows for this event, as there is limited seating.
Please note, masks will be required for all attendees before/during/after the performance per the Hoff COVID regulations.
A very special thank you to Kate and Roger Weitz for their support in making this possible!
