Independent Living Program for Autistic Young Adults Coming Fall 2022

Prosper Academy students embark on new journey

New cohort begins August 2022

Prosper Academy, a two-year post-secondary educational program designed to promote independent living, self-sufficiency, and social skills for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is accepting applications for its inaugural cohort, which begins in Fall of 2022.

Prosper Academy students will live in dorm-style housing at St. John Paul II Newman Center and follow a typical college schedule at Metropolitan Community College – South Campus and other community spaces including: formal classes, social immersions, volunteerism, internships, and employment.

Autism Action Partnership, in collaboration with higher education institutions and campus life, coordinate to ensure the success of the program and individualized goal attainment for each student.

AAP has licensed an evidence-based curriculum, Learn4Independence®, which is used in similar transition programs across the country. Curriculum covers topics such as: work, finances, relationships, nutrition, health, identity, community, transportation, independent living, communication, and social skills.
