Prosper Academy: Social 2 - Advocacy and Identity in Action
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Social 2: Advocacy and Identity in Action is designed for autistic adults who are ready to build confidence, strengthen their voice, and take meaningful steps toward self-advocacy and civic engagement. Through guided instruction, hands-on activities, and peer collaboration, participants will deepen their understanding of personal identity, legal rights, and the power of advocacy in real-world settings.
Over four weekly sessions, participants will:
Define and demonstrate advocacy and self-advocacy skills in everyday situations
Identify their personal strengths, needs, and preferences to support decision-making
Create self-advocacy scripts for use in school, work, and social environments
Learn about civic rights and responsibilities, including how to register and vote
Understand laws that affect their lives and explore ways to make their voices heard
Practice speaking confidently with peers, employers, and elected officials
This course empowers learners to move from self-awareness to action—equipping them with the tools, language, and strategies to advocate for themselves and others. Whether preparing for a job, engaging in their community, or standing up for what matters most, participants will leave this course with real skills for real-world advocacy.

Prosper Academy: Finance 2 - Future Funds
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Finance 2: Future Funds is an 8-hour intermediate course designed to build on the foundational concepts introduced in Why Money Matters by guiding participants toward greater financial independence and confidence. This course shifts from basic financial understanding to practical application—equipping learners to manage, protect, and plan for their financial future.
Participants will:
Explore how credit works, learn about different types of consumer credit, understand credit scores and reports, and develop strategies for building and maintaining good credit.
Understand debt, including good vs. bad debt, and explore practical strategies for reducing and managing debt responsibly.
Identify common types of financial fraud (such as identity theft, phishing, and scams) and learn concrete strategies for protecting personal information and responding to fraud.
Review key banking concepts, including reading and reconciling bank statements, using debit cards safely, and understanding electronic payment apps.
Discuss social support programs such as Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), including eligibility, reporting requirements, and record-keeping practices.
Engage in a personalized capstone project that combines goal-setting with financial planning. Participants will create an individualized financial plan outlining goals for 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 3 years—connected to their desired living situation, work, and lifestyle.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more confident navigating daily financial tasks, safeguarding their financial information, using credit and debt responsibly, and setting meaningful long-term financial goals. This course is especially valuable for those preparing for greater independence at home and in the workplace.

Living 2: Community and Confidence is designed to build on the skills learned in Home and Health by helping neurodivergent adults navigate the broader world with greater safety, awareness, and independence. This course focuses on building confidence in community settings through practical strategies for managing social boundaries, public safety, digital privacy, and transportation.
Participants will:
Learn to recognize the difference between friends, acquaintances, and strangers, and use appropriate safety strategies in a variety of social situations.
Identify and respond to unsafe or inappropriate behavior in both public and online spaces, including harassment and scams.
Understand how to interact appropriately with public systems, including law enforcement, and how to advocate for themselves when needed.
Practice phone and internet safety, including protecting personal information, using social media safely, and avoiding fraud.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more prepared to move through the world independently, make safer choices in unfamiliar environments, and communicate clearly in social and community settings. Living 2: Community and Confidence supports participants in expanding their independence while reducing vulnerability—essential steps in living a full and connected life.

Work 2: Mapping Your Career Path is a four-session course designed to support neurodivergent adults in gaining clarity, direction, and confidence in their career journeys. Through inclusive instruction and practical tools, this course helps participants identify potential career paths, build essential professional skills, and take actionable steps toward employment success. Whether exploring new opportunities or refining existing goals, learners will be guided through a structured process of self-discovery, planning, and real-world preparation.
Participants will:
Define what a career path is and explore different types of movement within industries, including upward and lateral opportunities.
Identify their job task preferences and begin aligning those interests with long-term career goals using self-reflective exercises and guided worksheets.
Learn how to build and expand their professional networks by understanding degrees of connection and practicing networking strategies.
Explore the value of mentorship, identify a potential mentor, and practice outreach and communication to build supportive career relationships.
Create a personal career flowchart and write a short-term employment goal that reflects their interests, strengths, and aspirations.
By the end of the course, participants will have developed a personalized career plan, engaged with professional contact, and completed a short-term goal to support their next steps. A Christmas Carol: A Relaxed Performance with Omaha Community Playhouse
Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Omaha’s favorite holiday tradition that’s been treasured by generations.
Ebenezer Scrooge takes us on a life-changing journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas in a glorious production filled with music, elaborate costumes, and warmth that families and friends return to again and again.
AAP invites you and your family to a relaxed performance of A Christmas Carol at Omaha Community Playhouse!
A Relaxed Performance is an inclusive theatrical experience designed to be welcoming to individuals with neurodiverse needs and those attending with them. Along with offering a few technical modifications and support materials, this supportive environment provides an opportunity to participate in live theatre in a comfortable setting. As the name suggests, these performances are less formal and more supportive of sensory, communication, movement, and learning needs. At no time will anyone be asked to leave the performance due to sound, movement, or behaviors related to differing cognitive/developmental abilities. This is a judgment-free environment.
*At all performances, Omaha Community Playhouse has sensory kits available for check out and a sensory break space available to patrons.

Living 2: Community and Confidence is designed to build on the skills learned in Home and Health by helping neurodivergent adults navigate the broader world with greater safety, awareness, and independence. This course focuses on building confidence in community settings through practical strategies for managing social boundaries, public safety, digital privacy, and transportation.
Participants will:
Learn to recognize the difference between friends, acquaintances, and strangers, and use appropriate safety strategies in a variety of social situations.
Identify and respond to unsafe or inappropriate behavior in both public and online spaces, including harassment and scams.
Understand how to interact appropriately with public systems, including law enforcement, and how to advocate for themselves when needed.
Practice phone and internet safety, including protecting personal information, using social media safely, and avoiding fraud.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more prepared to move through the world independently, make safer choices in unfamiliar environments, and communicate clearly in social and community settings. CLASS DESCRIPTION
Work 2: Mapping Your Career Path is a four-session course designed to support neurodivergent adults in gaining clarity, direction, and confidence in their career journeys. Through inclusive instruction and practical tools, this course helps participants identify potential career paths, build essential professional skills, and take actionable steps toward employment success. Whether exploring new opportunities or refining existing goals, learners will be guided through a structured process of self-discovery, planning, and real-world preparation.
Participants will:
Define what a career path is and explore different types of movement within industries, including upward and lateral opportunities.
Identify their job task preferences and begin aligning those interests with long-term career goals using self-reflective exercises and guided worksheets.
Learn how to build and expand their professional networks by understanding degrees of connection and practicing networking strategies.
Explore the value of mentorship, identify a potential mentor, and practice outreach and communication to build supportive career relationships.
Create a personal career flowchart and write a short-term employment goal that reflects their interests, strengths, and aspirations.

Living 2: Community and Confidence is designed to build on the skills learned in Home and Health by helping neurodivergent adults navigate the broader world with greater safety, awareness, and independence. This course focuses on building confidence in community settings through practical strategies for managing social boundaries, public safety, digital privacy, and transportation.
Participants will:
Learn to recognize the difference between friends, acquaintances, and strangers, and use appropriate safety strategies in a variety of social situations.
Identify and respond to unsafe or inappropriate behavior in both public and online spaces, including harassment and scams.
Understand how to interact appropriately with public systems, including law enforcement, and how to advocate for themselves when needed.
Practice phone and internet safety, including protecting personal information, using social media safely, and avoiding fraud.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Finance 2: Future Funds is an 8-hour intermediate course designed to build on the foundational concepts introduced in Why Money Matters by guiding participants toward greater financial independence and confidence. This course shifts from basic financial understanding to practical application—equipping learners to manage, protect, and plan for their financial future.
Participants will:
Explore how credit works, learn about different types of consumer credit, understand credit scores and reports, and develop strategies for building and maintaining good credit.
Understand debt, including good vs. bad debt, and explore practical strategies for reducing and managing debt responsibly.
Identify common types of financial fraud (such as identity theft, phishing, and scams) and learn concrete strategies for protecting personal information and responding to fraud.
Review key banking concepts, including reading and reconciling bank statements, using debit cards safely, and understanding electronic payment apps.
Discuss social support programs such as Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), including eligibility, reporting requirements, and record-keeping practices.
Engage in a personalized capstone project that combines goal-setting with financial planning. Participants will create an individualized financial plan outlining goals for 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 3 years—connected to their desired living situation, work, and lifestyle.

Social 2: Advocacy and Identity in Action is designed for autistic adults who are ready to build confidence, strengthen their voice, and take meaningful steps toward self-advocacy and civic engagement. Through guided instruction, hands-on activities, and peer collaboration, participants will deepen their understanding of personal identity, legal rights, and the power of advocacy in real-world settings.
Over four weekly sessions, participants will:

Living 1: Home and Health is designed to help neurodivergent adults build the essential routines and skills needed to live independently and care for their personal well-being. By focusing on topics like hygiene, health management, time organization, and home safety, this course lays the groundwork for greater self-reliance and confidence in daily life.
Participants will:
Learn and practice good personal hygiene habits and how to recognize symptoms of common illnesses.
Understand how to safely use over-the-counter and prescription medications, manage refills, and maintain a basic medicine cabinet.
Gain the skills to prepare for medical appointments, share health concerns, and follow up with care instructions.
Use organizational tools like calendars, alarms, and apps to build structure in their daily routines and track personal goals.
Learn how to set, pursue, and adjust goals using a step-by-step planning approach.
Develop a home safety plan, including emergency procedures and communicating with roommates.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more prepared to take care of themselves, manage their time and health, and stay safe in their living environments—essential steps on the path to independent living.

Prosper Academy: Work 1 - Why We Work
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Work 1: Why We Work is designed to help neurodivergent adults build the confidence, tools, and understanding needed to begin their employment journey. This course introduces the “why” behind work and explores how individual strengths, interests, and goals can shape a fulfilling career path.
Participants will:
Learn the foundational expectations of the first day on the job, including how to navigate working on a team
Reflect on their personal strengths and interests to explore possible career pathways
Explore effective communication strategies with peers at work and understand the nuances between friends, coworkers, and supervisors
Develop the skills needed to navigate the employee handbook and job site expectations, while also learning what YOU can expect from a job
By the end of the course, participants will feel more confident and prepared to apply for jobs or volunteer roles that align with who they are. The class is taught in a supportive and inclusive environment that aims to reduce anxiety around the “unknowns” of transitioning to a new (or first) job, making space for learning, growth, and self-discovery.

In our 4-part workshop, you will build a professional resume and cover letter, learn job search best practices, and develop confidence with interview strategies and practice. This program will enhance employment opportunities by providing practical, hands-on training tailored to individuals seeking meaningful work.

Making Memories: Our Turn with the Omaha Symphony
We’ll take turns exploring big, small, up, down, high, and low with our bodies and music, before choosing calm as the concert draws to a close.
This program, developed specifically to be inclusive of sensory needs, takes place in a relaxed environment with a variety of seating options and dance space.
Before the concert begins, take the time to explore the instruments with the Instrument Petting Zoo. Here you can touch and discover the different sounds you will hear during the performance!

Finance 1: Why Money Matters is designed to help neurodivergent adults build a strong foundation in personal finance by exploring the purpose behind everyday money decisions. Rather than focusing on budgeting tools alone, this course teaches the why behind financial habits—empowering participants to think critically about their income, spending, and financial goals.
Participants will:
Learn the basics of financial concepts like income, expenses, saving, and budgeting.
Explore real-world tools such as debit cards, banking apps, and online bill payments.
Practice strategies for handling routine money tasks, including tracking spending and paying bills on time.
Use simple frameworks to make sense of common financial decisions, from needs vs. wants to saving for the future.
By the end of the course, participants will better understand how money functions in their day-to-day lives and feel more confident managing it. Why Money Matters sets the stage for long-term financial independence by combining practical skills with big-picture thinking in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
