Summer Art Camp

In partnership with Why Arts, Autism Action Partnership is excited to announce Let it Shine: Summer Art Camp!

Campers will combine performance and visual arts with imagination to have an art experience that encourages them to be the best they can be!

Monday, July 22nd - Friday, July 26th

Campers | targeted to 6-12 y.o. - 9:00am - 11:30am

Campers | targeted to 13-17 y.o. - 1:00pm - 3:30pm

For both camps, the first hour will be dedicated to exploring performance arts such as dance, movement, and acting. There will be a 30 minute break for campers to enjoy a home-provided snack and drink.


The second hour campers will explore visual arts such as painting and drawing. There will be an artist from Why Arts for each session and AAP staff.

ReRuns is a non-profit who runs a children's consignment sale twice per year. We're SO excited to share this opportunity with the autism community!

AAP is working closely with our friends at ReRuns to make this experience accessible. The private sale will include a limited number of shoppers per session, volunteers to help families shop, sensory kits for check-out, and a quiet zone.

Hip Hop Class

Come join in on the fun at a hip hop dance class! This class encourages creativity, positivity, and confidence in celebrating yourself and others in a collaborative setting through the vehicle of hip hop dance

Reserve your tickets for one of the three sessions:

Session 1: 1:00-1:45 (ages 6-12)

Session 2: 2:00-2:45 (ages 13-17)

Session 3: 3:00-3:45 (ages 18+)

It's a magical time of year - and we want to invite you to join Autism Action Partnership at the Omaha Children's Museum for Sensory Santa! Our sensory-friendly Santa has worked with AAP for many years and we're excited to share this experience with you and your family! Exhibits at OCM will be free and open to the autism community during this event.

We will be joined by Nebraska Miss Amazing Teen Queen, Hadley Kaczmarek! Keep an eye out for Hadley - meet her, chat with her, take a photo with her!

Join AAP and the Salvation Army for our annual partnership: Sensory-Friendly Bell Ringing!

What does sensory-friendly bell ringing entail? In lieu of bells, volunteers will shake glow sticks to make the experience sensory-friendlier! Bring your family and take part in a holiday tradition.

Get in the holiday spirit with our 2nd Annual Pajama Brunch with Sensory Santa and the Omaha Symphony Sing-A-Long!

Join us on December 2nd at Haven150 to meet our sensory-friendly Santa and enjoy holiday songs from the Omaha Symphony. Snacks will be provided and attendees can visit the farm animals on Haven150's beautiful property following their session.

We are offering TWO sessions this year to allow more attendees, but space is still very limited! 

Group 1: 9:30 - 10:30 AM (Sensory Santa 9:30-10 and Symphony 10-10:30)

Group 2: 11 AM - 12 PM (Sensory Santa 11-11:30 and Symphony 11:30-12)

The inspiring poem written by Dr. Maya Angelou is adapted for the stage by renowned hip-hop theater artist Paige Hernandez (the dynamic performer of the show "Havana Hop" from The Rose's 2022-23 season), with original music by Grammy-nominated Kris Funn. Join us on a musical journey of facing our fears, embracing our individuality, and turning to our community in times of need. As this play reminds us, “Life doesn’t frighten me, I am fearless Royalty!”

Make 'em Laugh: Movement-Based Storytelling Class: High School Group

Create hysterical short stories on your feet in this comedy workshop. Participants will explore the art of comedy through movement, mask, and comedy improv games. Using their favorite characters from movies, stories and films, participants will break into groups of three and create their own hilarious story to share at the end of the workshop. What happens when Harry Potter, Dr. Strange and Grogu end up in their own multiverse? It’s up to you!

There will be 2 sessions of the class for different age groups. Spots are limited, so please double check your calendars before reserving your spot!
